EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In case you haven’t guessed, I am panty-moisteningly excited over this! The Geek Husband What Rules and I have the board game, and we have the original PC game on 3 1/4 floppy disks that will only run on the 10 year old machine I keep for that reason, and the fact that I haven’t been motivated enough to pull all my pictures off of it. It still works, but currently lives in the closet.
Joystiq has the trailer.
ETA: The Blood Bowl website.
Apparently, Cyanide games has decided to release the game on PC, Xbox, DS and PSP. DS!! I know what I’m going to be doing during my commute after this comes out. This decision has PS3 fans wringing their hands in grief. Cyanide has said that it is too expensive and so too big a financial risk to program for the PS3, but if the game does well, they might consider porting it over.
I just hope it’s half as much fun as the original PC game. I also hope that you’ll still be able to play two player on the PC version, because it’s been almost a decade since I kicked the Mister’s ass at this game on a computer. They better have Eldar in this version, or I am going to be exceptionally disappointed.
One of the best parts was listening to the little dudes make “Uhhh!” noises when they got tackled, leaving little pools of blood on the field.
This game is the reason I dropped a grad level Lit course I was taking as an undergrad. Because I was much more interested in watching Orcs and Dwarves beat the crap out of each other on a digital football field than I was in reading the works of Pope. I eventually had to ground myself from it.
The trailer looks awesome, but like I said, a lot of my happiness with this game is going to hinge on exactly which races they include, not to mention how smoothly play flows and on whether it has a multi-player mode.
Since they’re doing it in DS, I’m kind of hoping for a Wii release as well. Yes, then I’ll probably wind up buying it in three platforms, but I’m ok with that. It’s a small price to pay for Blood Bowl whenever and where ever I want it.

Ok, so in the ensuing hours since I posted about my quandry here and in my LJ, I have received about a dozen invitations to do that Animal Crossing interactive, trading stuff thing that you do, apparently.
Plus, the sexiest guy at Nintendo, who happens to be a dear, dear friend, is going to help me out with getting all set up.
So, hopefully next week I’ll be set up with my Pink (yay!) DS and Animal Crossing.

Actually, the question is what sort of geeking.
I have a LONG bus commute every weekday, and after chatting with the Boy about the fact that frequently the only thing saving my fellow passengers from agonizing death is the games on my phone, and recognizing that my phone is fairly limited in the number and sorts of games it can hold, we have decided that maybe I should pick up a Nintendo DS or PSP.
Now, most of my friends have the DS (and it comes in pink, squee!), and LOVE games like Animal Crossing. It also has the games My French Coach and My Spanish Coach, which make me exceptionally happy. Not to mention the Brain Age games. I would probably refrain from fighty games on the bus as I’m a “Leaner” when I play those. So, in the interest of not making other bus patrons want to introduce me to agonizing death, I think we’ll stick to relatively sedate games that won’t make me Lean or spit expletives every thirty seconds. Yeah, I’m a talker when I play fighty games. Another reason those are just right out. No one on my morning commute wants to hear me yelling, “Suck it! Suck it, Trebek!!! Take that! Oh, Damn it!”
So right now I’m surfing to see who has what games. PSP has the Warhammer 40K game. Ooooooo! And Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I have that for the Xbox and LOVE IT!!!!
But DS does have Animal Crossing, MahJong, the Namco Museum game sets with Pac Man and such, and Dementium looks good. And Castlevania Portrait of a Ruin looks good. I don’t know.
Ok, the DS costs about $40 to $70 less initially. However the games are mostly arond $30.
The PSP costs more initially, but has a lot of $20 games. Granted, how good those $20 games are, I do not know.
DS has more games. And Nintendo is really good about supporting their platforms, as opposed to Sony who are notorious for dropping platforms very quickly after not fully supporting them.
Any thoughts?
ETA: I have friends at Nintendo, as well. *wink wink*
